  • Now where could that have gone?

I misplaced an air pilot jet.
First I went through the normal emotional stages:

    Then the search function.
    Then the Links page.
    Now I'm begging:
Does anyone have a recommendation as to where I can source one?
It seems the 'fish on most parts sites is not as inclusive as the Clymer’s (P. 147 carb part 35 - Air Pilot Jet, The brass thread in jet recessed in the lower left hand side passage.)

    Thanks!

How would you feel with out the ability to get away from the cars?

    GeorgeFix, ebay.

You can try here for a start, but i'm sure if you asked him, you may be able to get individual items.

First thing is "What air pilot jet do You need" Forget the specs, you must match what you have, Air pilot jets on these are the same as Small Main jets on many sites.

As Nate suggested, I went to my local dealer and ordered new air jets, as stated they are "Mikuni small round jets". Look at one of your other ones for the size, should be somewhere around a 180 number give or take 5-10. I would be willing to bet that if you talk real nice to the service folks, they might have one sitting in a tool box waiting for new home they would sell you pretty cheap.

            Thanks for the advice

            They are 185's.

            So advice in Summery:
Go to dealer and ask for a 185 Small Main Jet to use for my Air Pilot Jet.

Thanks! And perhaps that bit of nomenclature was also why I was coming up zero on my other searches.

It might be hard to find a small round type main jet that large (185). If that is the case, get the largest size you can and drill it out with a numbered drill bit. You can find the exact size drill by using one of your remaining "not lost" jets as a guage.

Bring in one of the other jets so that they KNOW what you are talking about!

                  Hi Sol,
so you don't misplace another, here's an easy trick I learned the hard way:-
Put your carbs in a big cafeteria style tray to work on them so those little parts can't roll off and get lost.

                      Hey Sol.

Where did you find them. I am missing a pilot air jet #205 for an 82 XJ650J.
Have not been able to locate one even through Yamaha dealers.
                      Please let me know.
                      Thanks.

                        Correction:

well I did find them online, but I purchased it for $5 from a local scoot shop.

                        Thanks for your help.

I am currently wet testing the carbs before installing them.

I also made a vac. tester from some tubing for syncing them up later.

where online did I find my airjet?

Sorry I had walked away without hitting send on my last message. So just to recap to make sure I am actually helping rather than confusing: I was in need of what my manual calls air pilot jet, it is located in the mouth of the inlet. However I had no luck finding anything till the above members told me it was in fact a repurposed "small main jet" or a "small round main jet". I found a pack of 4 available at more then one place but I was going to get them from Bike Bandit as they had a marginally mo-better description. However I also found some part #s. Hum on review of what I have it looks like the list only goes up to 200. here is the short version, if there is one we can imply the part#

                          Small Round-N102.221
                          Type:
Small Round - Fits needle jets. Same as large round type.<<other then head size
                          Order No.
                          004-317 #180
                          004-318 #182.5
                          004-319 #185
                          004-320 #187.5
                          004-321 #190
                          004-322 #192.5
                          004-323 #195
                          004-324 #197.5
                          004-325 #200

This would make it a 004-327 if these are really Yamaha numbers - and apply to you. The members above spoke of sized drill bits. you might get some #200's and drill them. If you get a pack of 4 you can afford some mistakes. Sorry, I thought I could help more - but that is all I got.
