  • Rookie mistakes

I've made two in the last week. First was buying and installing wrong filters and I didn't check them before and put them in vertically. Anoyance for sure. The second one could have been deadly. About 8 miles from home on a county road I came to the insection with the main highway. Was turning right so I looked left and saw a line of traffic coming but lead vehicle had his right signal on so I pulled out. Looked left again and he wasn't turning( just driving around with his signal on) but I was already committed in the lane. I hit it hard and was a little sloppy on the clutch going into second and the front popped up about 6 inches but he was pulling hard and going straight . I was trying to make some separation so I didn't let up.Tire was back on the ground and I hit third & fourth clean before I looked in my mirror. I'd got away with it. My Tach isn't working so I don't know if I red lined or not but thats the story on why I was doing 120. Stupid , stupid mistake that could have been deadly.

Now you can answer the "have you brought the front end up" poll. And you did it the way most of us did it, without mean to. So now you know how easy it is to bring that front wheel off the ground with these beasts. There is a LOT of power and torque in there, and it comes on strong and FAST!

        own advice

Ya, you know I always tell everyone to be careful, and don't assume anything. Just went brain dead for a second. I hate these Dunlops so bad that I've started to run on them down a pound or two. If I'd had a lesser bike or the rear tire had spun. Well, I'd be hood ornament and this time it would have been my fault.

N one could ever say they never made that mistake in a cage or on a bike (at least one of the two anyway.) Fortunately enough, it was only a mentally aducational experience for you, and not a physically educational one (ok, with the exception of neecing to shake the loose weight out your pant legs when you stopped!!)

A good hair dryer or a heat gun will help in getting the pucker mark off the bike seat.

                  +1 nice save.
