There's a little pipe nipple coming off of the back of my gas tank below where the seat sits. What is it for/where does it go?
What is this nipple?

If you overfill or splash gas in that recessed area, it drains out instead of pooling around the filler neck. There should be a rubber tube connected to the nipple to direct the overflow to the ground and keep it off the bike. There's a little pipe nipple coming off of the back of my gas tank below where the seat sits. nubbin:
NOUN: 1. A small stunted ear of corn. 2. A small stunted or projecting part.
(From the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language - 4th Edition.)
So the little nipple on your tank may be called a nubbin, but that is a generic description of a protruding part.
Sorry...I'm married to an English major; what can I say?
