    Anything "level" on these bikes?

Here's my conundrum. I'm mounting a pair of new saddlebags (a set of ammo boxes), and I really, really like to get them level as the bike sits on its wheels. But I've got a couple of problems. First off, it's almost impossible to find a patch of ground that's level to sit the bike on. Second, when I mount the bags, I'm doing so with the bike on the center stand. This, of course, means the bike changes orientation when I drop if OFF the center stand and the back wheel drops down.

So, I'm wondering if there's something on the bike itself that's (more or less) level I can base the bags off (a part of the frame or something). I have a 1980 Standard model, which may help things... any tips?
    Currently XS-less.

With the bike on the centerstand, you can push down on the grab rail and raise the front of the bike (or just jack it up!) and have someone put a two by four under the front tire. This will raise the front 1 1/2" and should level yer scoot.
