  • Anyone ever had a K&N filter shrink?

Got a used K&N filter from someone here and am trying to put the thing in and it seems as thought the filter has shrunk about a 1/4 inch! Anyone ever had this happen?

It has K&N YA-140 printed on the bottom of the filter, I know YA-1400 is the correct filter and I just assumed that the last number was left off. Can anyone look at there K&N and confirm this?

Yes, a used one will dry up and shrink a little bit. I have never tried this but you might soak it in some air filter oil.

Yes, I've had that happen too with a K&N I bought on Ebay. I used a heat gun to make it more pliable and with a little coaxing it fit.

Ah never thought of the heat gun. I have been trying to get it stretched out.

I had a K&N shrink on me too. I called them and they shipped me a new filter...no questions asked. I don't think they asked me to ship the old one back...it was a 2 or 3 years ago and I don't remember.
