  • Would You Buy It?

I went to look at a 1979 Special I found on c-list. It showed 12K on the odometer and it's believable. The PO lost the key and had the bike hot wired. He had also pryed the gas cap open and had gotten rain in the gas. The bike wouldn't start but cranked with good sounding compression. Thinking back the bike wasn't getting fire due to the wiring. Rear tire absolutely shot and flat, front brake dragging a little. King queen seat cracked up. Paint was a gray/blue but in nice shape, chrome good, stock exhaust had some dents. I was looking for a parts bike but it was too nice to part out. He wants $800 firm and has clean title. If interested look up c-list for tulsa and search XS1100. I think it would make a good project and easily be back on the road.

From your description, $800 seems a bit high. Would be for me, anyway. Just for curiosity's sake, could you post the link? Tried searching for it, but didn't find it.

Not for $800! I would offer $300 for it (or less) There have been recent one for $400 that is a full baggers that (supposedly) only needs carbs cleaned. There are better deals out there that is better than that.

I have two XS650s, a Suzuki GS550L (looks beautiful), and a Moto Guzzi EV 11. My total cash outlay was $30 for all four bikes. I paid that for a XS650 I found in the junkyard while shopping for a station wagon bumper. The deals are out there if you're patient.

Agreed that 800 seems a bit high for what you described. Also since it was hot wired I would want to see the title and make sure that it really was his....

Here is a link. Glad to hear your feed back on this. I thought at $500-$600 it might be a good candidate to flip. I'm glad I passed.

I agree with tcoop...$300-ish. Certainly no more than $400.

Yep, not running I'd say no more than $300. Maybe $400 in Ca, especially since the tank is gonna have problems.
