  • front brakes squeal

Last week it was nice every day so i rode the bike to work.On Wednesday the front brakes started to squeal when i squeezed the lever. The pads were replaced last summer and the disc was kind if hot after riding. My question is because the bike didn't see much action during the winter months could the pads just be dragging? The bikes stops fine just is squealing.

Does the disc get REALLY hot all the time now?

When did you last change brake fluid? When did you last grease up the slides the pads ride on?

I typically pump new fluid in every couple years on all my vehicles. And I lube up the slides annually.

Last summer i replaced the pads, brake fluid and installed speed bleeders.Would disc brake lubricant help on the slides as i have not put anything on them before?I have some left over when i did the brakes on my Jeep.

I use the same stuff on my slides and the brackets the pads ride on.

If nothing else helps, sanding the rotors with 100 grit to remove the glaze should help. Blow all the brake dust off the pads and calipers also with compressed air or use brake cleaner. Sometimes that membrane goop for the back of the pads helps too.

Took off pads, put disc brake lubricant on back of pads and slide and put everything back together -super quiet now and no more squeaking!
