  • Interested in billet cam plugs?

I'm trying to see how much interest there is for billet cam plugs. I have a source for them and Im working on a price. Im not trying to get rich on the deal, just want to be able to offer these at lowest cost as possible. Obviously, the larger the batch the cheaper it should be. The first batch should be done within 4 weeks, I can let everyone know price and possible ship time later. The price should be less than xschop was selling them for so, if you definitely want a set let me know, if your on the fence untill you know the price please tell me that so I can estimate quantity. I will buy the batch then resell them for price of part plus shipping.

If there is anything else you can think of that can be made from 20mm stock let me know, he said he would be willing to make other parts as well...

I would take a set or two if they have the lip on both sides.

I will let you know as soon as I can, the advertised price will include shipping for a set of plugs (2). The plugs will have the double lip just like the ones xschop made. It will take the better part of a week maybe 2 before I can get a price but I will let you folks know as soon as I do. The first batch will probably be how ever many I can get out of a 10' bar, if there is more interest then I can cut up more... once my contact tells me he's reads to machine Im giving him the ok to start making them, I'll buy the batch from him and redistribute them to members.

I'd be interested depending on the price. I'd sure like to get rid of that pretty much constant kinda seepage there.

What does everyone think about maybe making some emulsion tubes?

That would indeed be interesting, I believe that for those to be of real use we would need to do both those AND the needles cause both the tubes and the needles are what wear and neither one are able to be gotten new anymore. AFAIK the only source for new (and only for the new style carbs) are aftermarket kits (CRS kicked and and the name flew right down the road), you know, the stage 1 and stage 3 kits? But if a pristine set of emulsion tubes and needles could be duplicated, that could well be worth something, cause how many of use are struggling with tuning for no other reason than worn emulsion tubes and needles? I'm sure with the miles on my carbs (minimum 90,000) that those parts are at least a bit worn, I understand they were supposed to be replaced before that many miles. So I would probably if it worked out get two complete sets (one to install and a spare set).

That is if the price was somewhere around decent and they worked decently.

I already have a potential source for a very low mileage set of emulsion tubes to take mesurements form. Only problem is, from my understanding the earlier carbs have two different tubes and my source has 4 of one set (inner ones)... not sure if there is much of a difference between the two functionally but, if anyone else has a set then maybe we can work something out. I don't see why we can't get tubes made for all the models, it wont complicate anything and I can have needles made too! So all you guys without the adjustable needles could have the chance to get adjustable needles that would match th stock profile needles.

Take a look, these are some of the typical parts that are made by the machines. Everything is made on a lathe...

Look real close, the one part has saw slots cut into the head near the threads...

I'd be in for a set of plugs as long as the price was reasonable.

They will be raw aluminum but, you can paint them if you like. They should have a nice finish, just a little buffing and they will shine. Im also considering having XS in etched into the one side. It shouldnt affect price at all and if you dont want to see the "XS" then just install them with that facing the cam... any thoughts on font?
