  • Torque for the oil pan

Any one know the correct torque for the oil pan screws? If you do, would you share that info with me?

    Thanks, David

Thanks Phil. I have a PDF of the Yamaha manual, but I can't seem to find the spec for the oil pan screws. Am I supposed to use Loctite on these screws?

It is listed in the general bolt torque area not in the section about the oil pan.

Yep, all the 5mm allen head case screws are 7.2 IIRC. I wouldn't use lock tite, I've never had one fall out, not a Harley, lol.

I can't remember if it's the factory service manual or the Clymer book, but one of them has a page or two with all of the proper torques listed. It also lists where Loc-Tite is recommended.

I tend to believe it's in the Clymer book and IIRC, Loc-Tite blue is recommended on the pan bolts. Please look it up before you take my word for it. I printed the page and put it where I wouldn't lose it. I can't for the life of me remember where that was.

No loc-tite needed, especially if you use RTV for the gasket. The RTV actually seeps into the bolt holes and acts as a thread-locker by accident.
