  • First Ride

I rode my '79 XS for the first time this weekend. It set about 15 years in a buddy's back yard before being hauled home. I've rebuilt all brake parts (actually new fron m/c assembly), built new ss brake lines, replaced tank door with a normal bung and lined, rebuilt carbs and installed dynojet stage 3 kit, new fluids, new pods, built new wiring harness, new tires, new handlebars, and more I am sure I'm forgetting. I put about 50 miles on it over the weekend. I think it's a touch rich at lower throttle but it roars to life at 3500 rpm. It's going to be a very fun bike! I'll snap some pics soon.

This engine definitely has power in the low end, but about 3k is where the mains kick in and you will feel it pull hard when it hits, and again about 5k you will feel the power band hit.

Glad you enjoyed the ride, looking forward to the pics!!

Stage 3, huh? Why did you go with that? Do you have straight pipes on it or something?

the stage 3 seems to be to big
for our bikes, i was running the 128 main jet
with good results, might be worth a try.

I put a stage 3 in due to the pods and exhaust I will be installing. Currently it has the stock exhaust but it's in very sad shape.

Would like to see that gas cap rework, and if you have is a schematic on what you did for your harness. Did you keep turn signals
