Octopus on an XJ?

Got the carbs from a friend's XJ to repair and noticed that they have an octopus attached. I thought that they only came on the XS 1100 Specials.

The XJ is 'sort of' an '82 Special in that it was based more on the 81 Special than on the 81 Standard.

XJ has the 'octopus' as standard equipment. Hose routing is the same as the Special; stock XJ seat has a diagram on the bottom of the pan showing the hose path. Petcocks are the same as the Special, 4 positions, Off, Prime, On, and Reserve.

Note the XJ carbs are slightly different than the XS...54mm bells vs 52 and stock jetting is leaner. XJ carbs have a cable operated choke; linkage is a bit different than the XS. Otherwise the XJ carbs are the same as the 'late' model '80 - '81 carbs.
