Toolkits turn up on Ebay if you watch; they sometimes have the dipstick. Here's one here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TOOL-...item4840271608 Not quite complete, but most of it is there (overpriced IMO though...).

The cable? That puppy is rare; a total PITA to refit into the tool box, those disappear pretty regularly. But the good news is, you don't need it for your '81. It's only needed for the '78-80 standards as the mufflers on those extend past the rear axle and block axle removal without the cable. Your '81 uses Special exhaust, so no cable needed..

          Tool Kits

You can still order the tool kits from the dealer, and they also have the dip stick available. I bought a dip stick in February and priced a tool kit however the price for the kit was around $82. The problem with most of the kits you see for sale on ebay is that they are almost always missing several tools in particular the shock adjusting tool and the dip stick and I have only seen one for sale in the last year that included the cable.

But you can put together a toolkit that is as good or better than OEM pretty easy. And the dipstick is like less than 10 bucks and still available and used for more than just our bike IIRC.

I found it at Yamaha Sports Center. The first price is retail. The second is what you pay.

                Cable

If you are referring to the cable for removing axle, I think I have one in one of my parts bin.

Would someone have such a list of sizes and types of wrenches/tools to travel with?

Saw that, would have to consolidate somewhat.
I'll figure that, but wanted to concentrate on those specialty/special use tools.
