    i have a 1980 xs1100

i tore it apart having it only about a weeks time.

i can not figure out how the throttle cable hooks to the carb, i know there has to be a mount somplace for the cable.

when i hook it up to the carb the cable just sits there with a ton of slack.

Don't have any handy pictures, but on the carbs, on top you should see a short cylinder with a notch out of it for the sleeve of the throttle cable to slide into. The cable will drop down past it, and on the throttle lever there is a round end with a circular hole through it. It also has a slot in one side only. You have to very very carefully convince the barrell on the end of the cable to slide into that round hole at the same time the cable is lined up with the slot. It tends to be a bit of a PITA, but after ten to twenty minutes I can get it in.
