Before purchasing new brake pads for my 79' xs11 special, i was wondering if anyone had an opinion on the best pads to buy.

For the Special, there isn't much choice. EBC has pads and....
I ordered sintered pads from BREMZEN on 12 March. I haven't seen them yet.
I'm aware of no other options.

Wow, good find! I would definitely try those, as I have tried most of the rest and non were any good.
