I do not belive that is the stock seat, and it has aftermarket pipes. The picturs is awfully small and hard to tell much else, looks like the side cover is messed up or not stock emblem anyway.

It appears to be an 80 or 81. Check the number on the engine and the frame, obviously they most likely will not match. But one of them should start with 4RO to be an 81 Special.

Be sure and carefully inspect the front end to see if it was damaged.

SlimJim, projects are more fun when you don't have a lot invested to start with. I agree with the assessment and would add the caution that if the frame has been replaced you want to give everything a careful look for wire routing, weird connections, and hack jobs. Taking off the seat and tank will let you see what you need to. That said, replacing a bent frame with a good one is of no concern as long as the state agrees with the numbers on the frame and the title if they look at that where you are.
Parts add up fast especially if you are adding tires or exhaust. The little stuff is mostly time and clean up.
      If you buy, go loooowwww!

I see he came down to $950, it has been in storage for 15 years so it probably need fluids, tires, and carbs cleaned. Could be worth $700?
