  • xs750 carbs on a xs1100

I was reading the post about using the suzuki carbs on an xs11
so I went to the parts lists for a xs750 and an xs 1100

    750 carb 1100 carb

    2f3-14901 2h7-14901

only difference seems to be the first 3 letters
so i went to the diagrams
and the carbs look close to being the same

and on ebay they have 2 or 3 sets of carbs, going cheeper than what I see the 1100 carbs going for

    so my question is
has anybody tried to put xs 750 carbs onto an xs 1100

Sure, you can. They are the same but likely to be worn out since they are so old.

they are both 34mm Mikuni's and very similar in design. Still it would be insane to try to fit a set. JUst get the correct carbs for your bike or 4 new K&L rebuild kits for you old ones.
My bike had carbs with stripped out pilot jets when I got her, I had to buy another set - and 4 new carb kits. I also had to buy another gas tank due severe rust. My fuel system repairs were $300.00 total, but a bike that sit for 10 years runs like new. It has been running GreaT for the last 2 years.
My advice is simple, fix what is there, because, it is all designed pretty good.just my 2 cents!

XS 750 carbs on an Xs 1100

          Hey Strom!
Are you tryin' to kill ALL the fun we are having in America?
you obviously DON'T care about Fuel Mileage!
That one X-tra carb consumes a LOT of fuel Ya'Know!!
And besides you can probably get the exhaust from the same guy and that will save EVEN MORE money
          Don't you have an imagination?
We don't All stick to the "conventional" method...and you probably ruined that guys day...

The part I really like is when those Idiots on E-bay list items and say "will fit the XS-750, 850 & 1100

I know...maybe a person could put a carb from a YZ 50 on the fourth cylinder and that would help improve the gas mileage!
But now thanks to you STROM...we'll NEVER know

I'm aware of the 3 carb vers 4 carb setup
but if a person has a bad carb for what ever reason and wants a replacement, it seems that the 750 carbs are going cheeper than the 1100 carbs
if one wanted to build a complete set however he would need to purcahse 2 sets of 750 carbs
with carbs on ebay going for well over a hundred dollars
and possibly the 750 ones going for 30-40 dollars
              it raises questions

                I have a 750 and it's a 4 cylinder. Maybe the XS750 was a 3 but the XJ750 definately had a 4 cyl.

                    hey guys
                    case in point
a set of carbs off a running 78 xs 750
just sold on ebay for 25 dollars
at least 2 usable carbs by looking at the picts
and the way the hoses connect

                    thats not a bad price
especially since i haven't seen a set of carbs from an xs 1100
going for less than 100 dollars on ebay

has anyone interchanged carbs from a 750 to an 1100
