Looking for a right side cover for a 80 XS11 special if anyone happens to have one. Could also use passenger footboards, windjammer fairing bottoms, and replacement driver pegs while I am asking Oh, and I have a question. Has anyone replaced their standard US (limited to 85mph) speedo for one that goes to higher speeds successfully that looks good? Would appreciate any suggestions on replacement speedo and tach as I am annoyed by the 85mph limit.

you can take the xs up to a steady speed of 80mph it will sit at that all day(as long as your arms can hang on)but you can take it past that to about 120mph but remember the red bit on the rev counter was put there for a reason?

Yes I know I wouldn't want to go into the red on the RPMs for sure. But the reason I ask is that you hit 90mph below 6k on the RPM meter (least I do) and there is still quite a bit of room before you are red but the bike does run rougher. So was just wondering if the model history has shown it best to stay below a rpm other then the red or if there really isnt a problem approaching it. Not of course that I plan to ride my bike into the ground. I just want to be sure to understand its limits rather then have to push the bike hard and possibly hurt it to find out for myself.

i think this is were it comes down to the bike itself, when i go out on my xs 1100 i ride it hard through the gears up to the red and the bike is very smooth all the gears.at a steaDY 80MPH I just open her up and of she flies up over the 110+ you will have to see what your bike is comfortable at,what xs have you got and what year is it.i must point out that my xs has only been on the road since 1995 as it was found in a crate in spain, but i have 2 other xs1100 and the performance is just the same on them.
