+1 if you've only put 200 miles on it, the rings probably haven't freed up yet. These motors can easily go over 100k without needing rings, YMMV.

The PO has proved to be totally unreliable & was incompetent to work on machinery but he did anyway. Point being, I have no idea if the mileage on the bike is real or could be far more. There's different turns on the front so perhaps he put on a newer cluster & I bought a well worn bike? Dunno...
i bought it last Oct, almost November so I drove it a little bit at the time, I say 200 miles, maybe 350 miles but not a lot. it's been sitting in the garage over the winter and hasn't been run yet this year as I've been undoing a lot of wrongs done to it. I've got fresh Amsoil 20-50 in it I put in right after running through a couple fills of regular oil & then draining so as to remove the gas in the oil from the leaky octy & float valves.
It had a lot more power than my 650J which is in great shape mechanically.
Man, I just don't know what's the smart choice at the moment. Drink another beer or two and relax a bit. If you look at the numbers I first got on Banshee, they were close to what you are seeing. That being said, I have yet to recheck the compression. I have about 1,000 or so miles on her now and she runs, idles decent, and has plenty of power for all I want or do with it.
So you very well may find that the bike will run decent and give you miles of smiles without doing anything to the internals.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

It's been a long and difficult week & it was time for a beer so I opened a Flying Dog "Snake dog India Pale Ale", cousin to the Raging Bitch, Doggy style and In-Heat Wheat...

As to the bike, I'm waiting to hear a general consensus on what I should do at this point & will weigh those thoughts & do the one most suggested.

Agreed that you need to run her more before you decide about the compression. Do the shims button her up and ride her!Nathan

I've got zero compression on #2 cylinder. I was checking the valve shim readings and by chance I put my thumb over the spark plug hole and turned the crank, there was no pressure coming from the hole. Put oil in the cylinder and it didn't help. Looks like the exhaust valve is shot. I'm 60, and have been buying vehicles for a lot of years now and never in my life have I bought anything with so many hidden up things that were repaired incorrectly. No exhaust gasket in #2 cylinder, stripped bolts, wires twisted together with no covering them and so much more. It's one thing to sell something and divulge your mistakes or what you tried to do to fix and winged it but it's another to say it was in excellent condition. yes caveat emptor lays the burden of discovery on me but yes I can 'bitch about the PO harder';

You know KA, I think the same guy that had your bike use to own a truck I bought. Told me the engine had been recently rebuilt, the brakes were just overhauled...yada..yada...yada. The warning sign should have went off when he volunteered to deliver the truck to my house for me. That and I was dumb enough to go look at night instead of waiting for daylight.
He parked it grabbed the money and hi-tailed it out. I liik under the truck and oil starts dripping on the driveway, then there is the wet spot behind the left rear tire. Well, the brak ehose to the left rear had sanpped off the wheel cylinder, so they twisted it up, piched it good and wrapped it with duct tape.
The oil was from the mechanical fuel pump, bottom bolt was stripped out and the onyl gasket was an envelope, and no they did not even cut the envelope out, just shoved the lever for the pump through the envelope and only cut the outside edge, which it onyl covered the bottom 2/3 of the flange!!
Yeah, I could go on and on and on about that little fiasco. But, falls into that category of fool me once shame on me.....and if I see you again, your limping for life!!!!Life is what happens while your planning everything else!
