I am gonna do this one more time. This is the second time the left fork seal has started leaking. Bike has 65k on it and the right side has not leaked a drop. The last replacement I used OEM Yamaha seal, polished for tube to a mirror finish, inspected tube close for nicks and burrs (none). Replaced fork oil in both tubes with careful measurement. I run a max of 15psi in each tube when running loaded. I only want to do this once again (at least last longer than 2 years). Have I missed something, or did I just get a bad seal?

Just thinking....maybe a "mirror finish" isnt the best sealing surface for a fork seal. I did my seals this summer and basically just cleaned the forks up. The finish on the forks is far from mirrorlike. So far so good, just a hint of oil on the tube.
I wonder if anyone else has had the same prob as you after shining up a fork.'81 sh " Maime" The Nature of The Beast

Funny thing,I have same problem on my bike{78E}.What the forks on my bike does,is at first they don`t leak after ride a while say 10-30 miles then they start weeping, not bad just noticeable.I own a dirt bike that has bleeder screws on top of each fork,to bleed off air pressure that builds up during a ride.I`am thinking that is what the forks on my XS is doing.Question:Can one do this on a XS?Mine is a 78E with the screw adjuster on top to preload the fork springs. Isn't 15 psi in air forks a tad high? I had thought you were supposed to run more in the neighborhood of 7-10 or 12 pounds?1979 XS11F Standard - Maya - 1196cc (out of order)
