    My sunday piston

    A picture of what I found when I tore down my 81, which suddenly lost compression half way home from a trip so disney land.



    Thats right, its a sunday piston because its holy.

    so anyone got a good piston?

    Anyone got input on why it melted down? I figure lean but I had cleaned and adjusted the cabs before we left and all the plugs were showing dark, which should have been rich.
    1979 xs1100 Special -
    Stock air box/K&N Filter, MAC 4-2 exhaust, Bad-Boy Air horn, TC fuse box, Windshield, Soft bags, Vetter Fairing, Blinkers->Run/Turn/Brake Lights, Headlight Modulator, hard wire GPS power

    Short Stack - 1981 xs1100 Standard - lowered for SWMBO.

      Are all the plugs the same type? Is the ignition timing correct?

      That piston has melted, collapsed and then holed...... it's pretty drastic, eh?
      XS1100F 1980 European model. Standard. Dyna coils. Iridium plugs. XS750 final drive (sometimes). Micron fork brace. Progressive front springs. Geezer regulator/rectifier. Stainless 4 into 2 exhaust. Auto CCT (Venturer 1300) SOLD. New project now on the go. 1980 European model.
