Just thought I'd share this...
One issue with repainting the engine cases is finding a silver paint that has the right gloss. Most silver paints either have a high gloss (and mar easily) or give a rather flat finish that can be hard to keep clean. After trying several different brands/types of paint, I found this: http://www.eastwood.com/silver-argen...paint-set.html
This a bit 'brighter' than the original paint, but has a nice semi-gloss finish that should be easy to clean. It's a wheel paint, so should be fairly resistant to chipping too. It's only rated to 250 degrees, but the cases don't get hotter than that (or shouldn't anyway) so this should work fine. I wouldn't use it on the cylinders/head, but Yamaha used a flat aluminum high-heat on the original head/barrels anyway.
