    Arcing on No1 & 2 only - help.

    hi,
just fired up the bike after having it parked for the winter - too much snow in AZ high country to ride.

I noticed arcing on number 1 and number 2 cylinders. Nothing on 3 & 4 though.

All wires look sold and intact.

    Any thoughts?

    Hey Jack,

Check out this tech tip from the Top Drop down menu!

Also, check the plug caps, remove them and check their resistance...should be 5K ohms or so, but if much higher then the spark may be looking for a path of least resistance??

Try bending the plug wires, you may be surprised with cracks and such!

forgot to mention - wires and coils only 1 year old

coils and wires are only about a year old and only have about 500 miles on them. i'd have to look to see brand - I bought the bike from an old biker friend who never skimps on parts.

all the wires look and feel solid.

Along the line of TC's statement, I was once informed (Denny Zander?) that badly fouled plugs can make arcing to ground around the sparkplug.
