  • radio mirror fit?

I have a xs1100SF Eleven special 1979 and I was wondering if these mirrors would fit. Can you guys tell me if it fits.

    Here's the link: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/motorcy...lot-pair-46065

    thanks guys!

You would have to get an adapter for the right hand side as the XS11 like all Yamaha's of the era uses left hand threads on the right side mirror unlike the rest of the motorcycle industry. Adapters are available, but sometimes a little hard to find. Yamaha specific mirrors come already threaded that way, or with an adapter included, and back in the day many aftermarket mirrors came with them or were sold in Yamaha targeted versions but they are a bit more rare these days.

Sorry, haven't seen one in about 20 years. That was the last time I put a non-oem mirror or one that wasn't specific to Yamaha of those years. They screw into where the mirror does, and the normal mirror screws into them.

PLEASE let me know how this turns out, I am interested in those but wonder if they are loud enough. I ended up drilling out the left hand threads and used a helicoil insert so I can use any type of mirror.

I did something similar; I drilled/tapped mine for a 7/16 coarse thread, then used a couple of bolts center-drilled/tapped to 5/16 NF for adaptors. This is the 'standard' HD thread, and there's tons of mirror choices for those...

                    I got them from Mikesxs

Hey Guys I got the adaptors from Mikesxs with the rubber in them (chrome) and have for the last 3 yrs to put aftermarket mirrors on the bike. They work fine & the rubber in them helps with vibration. No worries - get some if you want other than yamaha mirrors - Dan
