  • master cylinder reassembly

I took the rear master cylinder apart on my XS1100 to clean the 20 year old goop out. It didn't come apart easily and I couldn't see order the parts came out. I'm calling the brake line end the front for explaination purposes. There is a spring which obviously goes in first but is it big end or small end first, then there is a cup seal and a flat washer. Which of these goes first? Does the cup side of the seal face forward? How about the seal on the piston, face forward or backward? I looked in the manual I downloaded but the pictures are horrible.

        Nice!

I'll be using this in a few weeks when I dive in for exploratory surgery to find, and cleanout the "SPLUGE HOLE"
        Thanks!
