  • Checking gear oil etc.

    Chaps,

just a thought....If you don't have the special dipsticks anymore, how do you check the oil levels in the bevel housing and middle gear box?

Seems a bit wastefull to drain it all out and replace with correct amount if you suspect it just needs a top-up. Unless it's nearly done it's usefull life, that is.

can anyone give me the dimensions of where the marks are on these tools etc. so I can make some. Thanks.

    Sidecars forever,
    Herbie.

You can use this tech tip as a guide:http://www.xs11.com/tips/maintenance/maint13.shtml
The air box gets in the way and the stock is made to be flexible to get it into the middle gear hole. You can get aroud that problem by making two different dip sticks. You can even make them out of thick coat hanger, if you etch high and low marks on them.
