  • mikesxs selonoid does fit for starter

I put this in my bike on the wknd & it does fit & work. Great deal for $15.00. Just had to bend the mounting bracket on the part in the vise a few times to line it up with the existing holes for the old one that was there. The existing holes on the top of the fuse panel have to bent bakc abit with your finger too. I also had to bend back the triangle part on the fuse box that originally held the aux. power fuse to be able to tighten the bottom bolt on the new selonoid from Mikesxs orginally for a xs650.

The wiring was a breeze as when installed the the soldered red wire gets connnected to the red wire from the orig. wiring and the only other wire goes to the one left over. I know a pic would be worth everything but alas I don't have all that techy stuff. I was going to re build my old one but this is much faster & eaiser for $15 & now I have a new unit. SO have no fears in getting one that if may not fit. Cause if I did it anyone can - Dan

That's actually pretty funny. Kind like "if you bend a bunch of stuff it's a perfect fit"

He he..reminds me of the articles in the old "Car Craft' magazine. every article about a new accessory quoted that 'it bolts right up', which translated to...'lots of fabrication, bending, drilling...'

Yeah, but retrofit usually requires a little work. From the sound of it it was pretty easy.

Here are a few photos, but I'm accessing the site thru a PROXY, lost direct access again...friggin' servers and their DNS tables!!!

Anyways, because of the Proxy access I can't get the image url data from the photos we have in our Electrical Mods tech tips that show the older SQUARE shaped starter relays and the mounting tabs and such!

I can get the data from MikesXS.net as well as photos from my photobucket, so here's the MikesXS relay, and examples from an XJ as well as an 81SH, both of which are ROUND like Mikes, and may not require as much bending!?
