bolts

So I have been changing out almost all the hardware on my bike with stainless and I almost have it all except I cannot find anything in m10 x 1.25 there are 5 bolts of a few lengths and 7 acorn nuts needed in that size and it seems to not exist.

any ideas?

This may be a stupid question, but did you try McMASTER-CARR? Also, the XS11 shares some hardware with the XS650, so Mike's XS is worth a look.

Never looked at mikesxs but I did go through mcmaster carr and they didst have it. Fastnal can't find it, grainger can't find it, I have went through about the first 20 Google results for stainless metric bolts and non of them have it.

I will share this with you Nate, for those acorn nuts, specifically the ones that hold the rear shocks on, do not try to run a 10mm X 1.5 thread acorn nut onto that. BAD things will happen.. DAMHIKIJK!

Yeah, I ran a 1.5 into the peg mount hole cause the Fastnal guy measured then and I just assumed he knew what he was doing and didn't check before I used them, after I did that I checked them all then.

That size is almost impossible to find... but notice I said 'almost'

These guys have 'em.... http://www.allensfasteners.com/default.asp... but not in stainless. BUT they do have them in chrome and there isn't much of a price difference.

FWIW, Nate, Hondas also use a 10mm X 1.25 acorn nut on the rear shocks. Try Honda sites. I have seen those acorn nuts in stainless on Ebay for CB750s. They also use 1.25 pitch on the other bolts on the bike.

Pretty expensive though... at $5 and up, that's nearly double over chrome

Yeah just got the prices. 7 bucks a bolt (7.50 for polished) and the acorn nuts are 3. The acorn nuts for the FD and shocks are really all I need.

I'll warn you on the FD nuts; Yamaha used 'special' nuts on these and whatever you buy may not fit. The factory nuts have an undersized hex on them, and new ones will take a larger wrench size at the least. I bought some for mine, and had to 'relieve' the swingarm around the nuts to get a socket on them, and a few of the nuts wouldn't tighten all the way until I reworked it. There's some variation in the casting used so you might get lucky, but don't count on it...

Right now I just have regular locknuts in the fd. They aren't east to get on but I can do it without too much trouble.
