  • new brake lines needed

i'm sure this has been asked before, but, anyone know a place/site to buy REASONABLY PRICED new brakelines for the front of 1980 mns. they are still the originals and are desinigrating . will be bringing the bike out of storage next week and i know they need replaced. been researching this issue a little on the web and just cannot believe the prices i've found so far. would prefer to just get like for like [3 hoses].
    any help appreciated,

Go for the braided stainless teflon. Even NOS rubber lines are still 20-30 yrs old. Helusa has a four-line XS set for something like $140

I ordered lines from BREMZEN. They aren't here yet, but I'll report after I install them. I ordered sintered pads as well.

          Define 'reasonable' ...

You don't have a lot of choices for brake lines, and only one of them are cheap. Anything new is going to run around $100 or more, so if that's over your budget, you'll have to find some decent used. The good thing is your '80 MNS uses the same lines as '79-81 Specials...

The ONLY XS lines that will fit are the 81 MNS, not even the regular 81 specials will work, lines because they both have the linked rear/front brake line. You could possibly change to the front/neat independent brakes Luke the other XS's but that most likely would require different master cylinders

                Natemon,

Any idea where I can get a stainless brakeline kit for the XJ 1100, or do I have to piece it together?

                    Chacal

yes, I have seen Chacal's source,
I would have everything but $$ by the time I replace all the lines, maybe Ill start with the back first and work my way up.. Thanks for reminding me Chacal has the parts I need. Will have to order something up. Thanks..

Mikesxs also sell lines but he only has certain lengths. You could.measure the lines and if he has lines close to the right length you could use his. 25 bucks a line.

Don't buy the lines from Mike's. They won't fit, and leaks have been reported.
