    Exhaust indentification help

    Wondering if my pipes are actually O.E. or aftermarket. They have "six-shooter" looking baffles in the tips. Is this stock exhaust? Any help is greatly appreciated!

    The OEM mufflers only have a single hole in the center, unless someone got trigger-happy with a drill... A picture may help with real identification though.

      The OEM exahust end looks like this (only hopefully alot less rust!)



      Here is one in cleaner condition but with holes drilled to increase air flow through the engine.

        Must not be stock then, has a hole in the center and 6 surrounding it that resemble a cylinder of a revolver and are all the same size. Each hole has lip formed around it, so they are not drilled out. Definetly made that way. I don't have a camera at my disposal right now, so no pics. Thanks, Bug!

            Do the lips go in, or out?
            The stock mufflers on my 80G have six pressed in depressions around the center hole, and with precise centering, and the proper sized drill, they could be drilled out, leaving a lip to the inside. CZ

              I've seen this done on Marshall Deeptones (which have only one central hole) and others. All it seems to accomplish is to make a racket and give the illusion of more speed. As far as I understand it, increasing the flow through the system, without re-jetting the carbs accordingly, is counter-productive and can actually impair the performance. Originally, my bike had a Marshall Deeptone drilled in the same manner. I put a plate over them and sealed them all up. I didn't notice any difference in performance at all, apart from the bike being quieter.
