Standard vs. Special Forks

    I wouldn't exactly call the swap idea a change for the worse, just a little different. I did it through necessity as I was supplied incorrect fork seals for my SF Special, which resulted in ruined old seals and newies that didn't fit.
    The only really noticable difference was that they were a bit harsher than the Special forks but handling-wise, it didn't affect it badly at all, and in no way at all dangerously, even with the trailer in tow through the twisty bits.
    One major benefit is much better stopping power with the Standard calipers, one side effect I didn't mind at all.
    I kept it this way for about 8,000klms till I managed to source the bits I needed to return my bike to it's stock form, which over here is somewhat rarish, as the Specials weren't marketed here.
    You would also be able to retain your original headlight etc but you would have to swap the tubes, sliders, calipers, guard, and speedo drive and cable over to complete the swap.



    Doesn't look so bad, either, particularly if the only other option is to leave it in the garage till the correct parts eventually turn up.
