  • Cam Timing Marks?

Well, i got the engine put back together last weekend....
just started installing the cams....oops, I dont remember where the cam gear marks are supposed to go,
If I assume correctly, the aim toward each other....is this correct?????

    Thanks, John

    No.

Set the crank on the "T" mark.

The cams have dots on the shaft, and their corresponding journal caps have triangular marks. When all three indicators are lined up on their marks, you're timed.

        HOLD IT.

You don't have a Service Manual?

GET ONE. Doing the cams wrong will bend all of your valves.

Find one of Catatonicbug's posts and download the factory service manual from the link in his posts. There is also a clymer manual and owners manual available for download in there as well, well worth the time to download. I keep them on a thumb drive in my pocket just in case, in addition to the printed out copy in a 3 ring binder in the house.

Seems to me there is a bit of confusion here. Are you talking about the gears or the camshafts?

If it is the gears I have a set of cams with the gears(cut the chain to remove) I can look at.

                hey renegade,
its from page 66 in the clymers, have a good read,
as davinci said, it can be real easy to bend valves
                if it isnt done properly.
