  • Midnight paint

While it's still 20 below here at night, I can see grass again so I'm going to restart the midnight restoration. The motor was pretty shabby so I'm going to have the head and covers powder coated. The pipes I'll use a gloss ceramic. Not having much luck with the gold accents yet, several option exist but none are close to the original and look cheap to me. I may just paint everything black and be done with it. Has anyone attempted to remove the air box chrome side plates. I see small stubs but no clips, are they a tab style friction fit with expoxy slathered on for good measure?

i have took them off a special no diff i guess but it is pretty tricky. that all i remeber now without lookin at them. i think the fastners are burried in the plastic mold and you can pry under them if not to deep, might be best to use dremel tool on them.
