HELP HELP How do i install the shifter on an 82 XJ1100

i just bought the bike and the owner took off the shifter but now i need to reinstall how to i put it in the right way in order to make the gears work..i dont know hot to line up the shift shaft assembly...please help

that says it was for a xs not an xj..do you still think it will work

Same for the XS and XJ. Trannys are the same in both bikes.
