  • carb fuel supply T's

Has anyone had to replace their fuel supply T fittings (between #1/2 & #3/4 carbs) recently?

I have gone to the local parts stores and placed orders, only to get a phone call an hour later that the part number, though still listed with a price, is discontinued.

oh, and on a whim, I tried mikes xs--but those ones are made differently--will they interchange with the OEM type?

    I need 2 fittings for an '80...

any leads would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks again!!!
    Phil

    Phil,

If you do a search on Fuel T repair you should find a few options on how to fix what you have. You may have to sort through quite a bit of stuff to find it, but I remember a thread where several folks had shown ways they made old ones better/good.

I don't meant to be a complete idiot...
but, on the '80/'81's, the part number they call out it a 3h3-14988-00-00...
which one (if either of the two styles) would be the suitable substitute?

thanks for helping out a new guy!

you're all helping make this project more bearable, and that's helping it stay enjoyable!

The short story...so to speak, is that the 80-81 model carbs only have one T, which is the longer one. The shorter T is for the Vent connection. The upper Ts shown in this pic, not a great pic, but it shows the Ts.

I'm trying my best not to ask questions that a simple search would remedy, and I'm really appreciative for all of the helpful tips & lessons learned that everyone on here is willing to share!

until I get into another pickle... THANKS for the help!!!

No worries Phil, every one of us that know these things only learned it one of two ways, asking the same questions your asking, or finding out the hard way. Asking is ALOT easier and cheaper!!

So very very true! Ask anything that crosses your mind (i will not explain the birds and the bees to anyone though!) cause we all learn by asking questions, and every now and then even the ones that know it all (of which I am NOT, I just talk a lot) learn something!

Nate, no one could, cause just when men get close to figuiring thing sout, those pesky women folk change it anyway. Its in their bylaws, some codeword on the news or something alerts them all, switch to code alpha-omega-dew-drop! Even Mr. Enigma could not break that one!!

                        Phil G,

Go to the link that Crazy Steve and Bikerphil posted. Look at the eBay link and go to the seller's "about me" page. It will show you a website. Go there. Find your tee. That's how I bought mine. Great product, instant shipping. www.motorcyclecarbs.com has them as well. The first option is better. Do the research and you'll see. I got mine from the first option and I was very happy.

Use the link bikerphil posted. It's the same company as the ebay posting but cheaper for the part and way cheaper for shipping.

Yep, listen to BIKERPHIL. I'm sitting at the bar in Maui, and not paying close enough attention. I did buy my tees from the link Phil posted. That's your best bet!
