  • 79F: What color is the brake light wire into the taillight?

I have looked at the wiring diagram. I just don't believe it. Taillight is blue; ground is black. Then I have yellow, green and brown. The wiring diagram says the brake is green/yellow and I have no gr/y. The wiring diagram also does not mention a yellow at all.

I am innthe final stages of mounting my Vetter trunk and I would really prefer to do it without causing all electrical problems on my fine running machine.

    TIA.

Mines a G so I'm not sure the colors are the same, plus my trunk doesn't have the Vetter harness so it's homemade. But if you can't figure it out with a meter, I'll see if I can figure out at least what it is on mine. Kinda cold and wet out there though what with the bike being right by the garage door and having to open the door to work on it, and driving rain and 14 MPH winds with 40MPH gusts don't work well with that .

Process of elimination... yes, the taillight is blue, ground black. The brown is actually 'chocolate' and should be left turn. The dark green is right turn, so the 'yellow' should be brake. Sure you're not a bit colorblind?

If you're wondering why the turns are there, that's so you have a ready connection point if you run saddlebags...

        you could use a voltmeter...

just turn ignition on and test wires one by one to determine which has power for taillight, then while you twister your foot up onto the brake test for brakelight.

You have an accessory lighting connector under the seat. You can test wire function there and do your connections to all the lights with one plug, no cutting and splicing that way. The connector should be clipped to the fender just in front of the TCI box.
