      Looks Great!

Pipes chrome looks too good to change.

Emblem screws are always an EBAY. Not cheap, but convenient

I don't know. I think the blue looked pretty good, especially on the engine. But the orange doesn't look bad or anything, I just like the blue better, but it's your ride, so your the one that's got to like it. I'me not a fan of the completely blacked out engines either. I like them blacked out with the fins polished, but completely blacked out makes it look like a big hole in the middle of the bike to me. Now that said, I've seen some nice looking black exhaust systems so I'm not in the least against that, as a matter of fact, I'm thinking real hard about doing the semi gloss black exhaust thing myself although I may have it done in ceramic if I do.

As for tank badge screws, you can find them on ebay pretty cheap, I mean like a couple a bucks, and I think you can find the size on bike bandit on the parts fiche there, but I don't know the size off hand myself.

I will repeat though, it just looks like a hole in the middle of the bike with the engine completely blacked out like that. It's why I like to see SOMETHING bright on the engine to give some detail for the eye to see, like some color on the lettering and such just to set things off, doesn't take a lot, just a little to relieve all that black.

Very nice!!! Alot of work went into that it is obvious. Turned out great!!

And I like sparkley stuff, so I would stay with the chrome.

the problem with the blue/green was that the old tank was so rusted out inside it was leaking all over. when i bought a one off ebay no one could match the paint so i had to come up with something else. the guy who bought it before me had the engine parts all pained green/blue, i didnt know a good way to get the paint off and polished so i went with the easy way

IF you were so inclined, it is not to tough to pull all the side covers off, use air craft stripper (strong paint stripper) and then polish them up.

If you like the Black, then leave it.

I think it looks nice. I don't know if I would think about painting those pipes. It will not hold up....some time polishing them may do more good.....As far as the motor goes....I sanded and polished the fins on mine and didn't paint the covers.
That high back seat you have was sold with a sissy bar behind it...I'm not sure how strong the back of the seat is by itself.
Anyway, I think the bike looks good.

Good on you for giving her another lease on life! I like the color change, maybe recreate the old style pinstriping. The little stripes add a lot of definition to the tank and side panels. I would keep the chrome pipes as they link the fenders front and rear.

The sanding of the fin edges is a great idea and would make the motor stand out. You could even sand the ridges on the top of the valve covers. The only other thing would be the red air filters. But you knew that...

                    Orange

I like the color.. Color is real close to my 78. If it were mine, I'd lose the seat but it is not so...............

                        sweet ride man

i like the motor blacked out, but a little color or chrome somewhere might not hurt

if you are thinking about painting the pipes, you could always wrap them with the black wrap, and leave the rest chrome

might be a nice contrast on the bike

id get rid of that seat, but they are hard to find sometimes, and its your ride so do whatever you feel!

I'm partial to all black and chrome. Doing a mixture to add some shine and contrast is way cool in my book. Overall I think it looks good (except for the seat like others have said). If I had a significant other (ie. girlfriend or wife) right now and she liked to go for rides, I might apt to keep the seat. Or at least swap it back and forth when the time called for it.

                          Cool bike!

                            keeping the peace

That seat may be keeping peace in the family. Sure more comfy than a flat one. I like the changes but agree the engine needs the fins sanded or something to break up the black.
