  • Running Light

Alright, I am trying to find some 1157 sockets so I can get front and rear running lights. I have been searching all the auto parts stores and hardware stores and no one has sockets, not even lights that I could cannibalize for just the sockets. So, you that have done it, where did you get them. Otherwise I will have to save up my pennies and get the spend led panels and glue them in there.

You need to find a wrecking yard with some 70's vintage cars or trucks in it. These will still have the metal sockets, although you may have to knock them out of whatever housing they're in; they're usually just pressed in. Front or rear should work. As an alternative, you should be able to find a cheap trailer light that could be cannibized.

Y'know, I just thought of something....

I wonder if there's enough room inside the Special turn signals to have a running light? Not that the bulb won't fit, but will the lens be able to take the heat of having an always-on lamp? I melted the lenses on another set one time when I tried this, it might be an issue...

Hmmm, never thought of that, I would be using led lights though so it is a moot point. Didn't some of the 650, 750, or 850's have rear running lights?

I also came up with a different long term idea. Find a small round driving light that could be mounted in the signal housing and sort of the triple headlight (I know) thing going on. Then have.the standard signals mounted down low like usual.

I've never seen any bike that came with rear running lights stock, only the fronts....
