  • Rear master cyclinder rebuild kit

    Hi Guys,

I sure wish I could bring something to the table but since I'm new I don't have much but smart-a$$ comments for ya. Hopefully I can learn and bring something in the future.

I just removed my master cylinder and was wondering if I just yank out the plastic pushrod or am I missing something here. There's an awful lot of rusty gunk around the lower part of the MC so I'm assuming that the lower rubber gasket/boot must not be in the greatest condition. The resevoir looks really clean. I will clean out the spooge hole but not sure on the actual rebuild.

I searched the forums but only see how to put the rubber boot on the plastic part and clean the spooge. Is there a walkthrough somewhere else on the entire rebuild?

    Thanks in advance.

I guess I should clean the part a little better before I post a stupid question. Look at this cool pic. It's kinda self explanatory after you can see through all the rust and gunk.

When I rebuilt my rear mc the rings has rusted off the circlip and was very well stock in the groove. Once you open it up you find parts inside still in good condition and still usable, but at 30 bucks for a rebuild kit its piece of mind too, unless your on a super tight budget.

Yeah... the inside parts looked pretty good but I replaced them anyways. Time to bleed the lines and seal it back up.

It's a success! And I can't thank you guys enough for all the great posts on this site. MC rebuilt, completely put back together and the lines are pretty much bled out. At least I'm getting the rear calipers to work. I'll do as suggested and bleed it a tad more tomorrow to make sure any top surfacing air bubbles are gone.

          Thanks!!!
