today i did the deed i was dreading
2 years ago i sheared the bolt head off of my oil filter bolt
i knew it was shot, but i had a k&n filter in there and changed the oil more then i needed to so i think i avoided engine damage or wear
but this year, i knew i needed to address it
so i did that today
attempted to pound a smaller socket on 2 times, that failed
then i ground two flat spots and locked some vice grips on there, that failed and sheared the rest of the 'nub' off
then i knew i had to do some grinding, which was my last choice of repair
i bought the spin on filter adapter from TC a year or 2 ago so i knew i could get crazy with the grinder
it was actually easier then i thought it would be
once i ground through i let the oil drip out for awhile and had a crisp cold beverage or two, then went the rest of the way through it
i was so glad to eventually grind it away enough to drop the filter housing off
id like to thank everyone on this site for tips and moral support of you all going through it first
then i cleaned it all up and installed the s.o.f.a
i wanted to take more pics, but my hands were so dirty and greasy only like 10 seconds into the repair so that went out the window
