  • Dyna Coil Install Question

I bought the dyna coils. Went to use the 7mm mikesxs plug wires I have from my old mikesxs black coils and I am curious how do you attach them. The mikesxs coils have a little threaded post in them that the plug wires screw on to, but the dyna coils don't.

So how did you all attach the plug wires to the coils?

    Thanks again all,

    Ozz

I used MSD plug wires (automotive type). They popped-in like on a distributor cap (on the coils).

Do those black coils still work? And are you looking to get rid of them if so? If so I might be interested in them.

Only one of the coils are good. I had ordered 4 coils,2 for my bike,2 for my brother-in-laws, 3 went bad. Others had had the same issue with the black coils.

I would get the dyna coils, cheaper than the mikesxs green ones. If you order the dyna coils from z1enterprises.

                  Thanks Pete

I saw those on mikesxs. I found them locally for a few cents more.

                  Thanks all for your help.

They are the 1.5 ohm coils, I still have the ballast resistor. I believe with 3 ohm coils the ballast resistor can be safely removed.

Based on some discussions I've had with others. Did you solder leads to the coils or did you use crimp connectors? I'm curious based on some discussions with some who have several years of successful use on the black coils with no failures.

I soldered the primary leads to the coils.
