Fuel tanks again

I have done a search on this but the answer is not clear enough for me on previous posts. Will a 78 750 e fuel tank fit a 79f model 1100? If the tank wont fit are there other options of fuel sending units or floats that will work from other years. I can get some fueltanks but not the one I have and the fuel gage isn't registering.
Finally got to start it up and ride it last night, it was great. shifting is a little loud and the throttle cable seems to stick or there may be weak springs. I have to roll the throttle off. it returns too slowly to just let off. have to ride a little carefully till I get my skills back where they used to be.

The only thing I can tell is if the 750 tank is close,is just try it and see if it will work.I still haven`t got a chance to do a hands on try and see.
