  • carb T connection question

On the carbs, there are 4 T connections. The lower ones go to fuel from tank, obviously but the upper 2 T's.... I dont know where they go.
The PO had short fuel hoses coming off them into the open air, but now I have an airbox and "thought" the hoses would run to it. The airbox has 2 solid posts that seem like the logical connecting point, but Im unsure if this is where they should go.
Any help explaining where these 2 hoses (upper Ts on carbs) go?

They do go to those two nipples on the air box. However, there are two models of air box.

The early models have thoes tow nipples open with a brass stint inside of them, this lets the vents (those upper two Ts are bowl vents) breath into the air box.

In 1980 they eliminated those vents by letting them vent through an internal passage in the carb to the inlet bell. So those passages in the air box were never drilled and do not have the brass inserts.

If you have the later model air box, you have two options. One is to drill the holes through those nipples and hook the lines to them. The other is to do the same thign the POD guys do, hook a piece of fuel line or other tubing to it and let it breath to atmosphere.
