...if a '78 XS750 headlight is a 7" unit and could be made to fit on a Special? And would this be a halogen unit, or a sealed beam? Enough room in the bucket for the wiring connections? The parts fiche is wishy-washy (showing two models, Canada and I assume US) with various combinations and no diagram... bummer.

    Hey Steve,

According to the parts fiche, the CHROME outer headlight rims are the same for the 78SE 750 as well as the 79SF 1100, but the headlight lens assembly is different. The 750 is a sealed beam style, the 1100 is the changeable bulb!

SO...the bucket appears to be the same 7" ROUND size, I would suspect that you could make enough room behind the plug for the halogen type using the 750 bucket!?

PS, here's the photo, not sure why you couldn't see one?

        Thanks TC!
I suspected they were the same or similar enough to work, and the one I'm watching appears to already have a halogen-style lamp assembly in it. It may not even be a '78 (I'm sure parts swapping went on with these bikes too ), but looks close enough....

No idea why the diagram wouldn't come up...
