Haven't had a chance to do anything else yet. I did verify that the throttle cable is broken. Hopefully Tuesday I can spend some time on it. Wife is still on maternity leave for another week yet. Makes garage time harder to obtain. Hope to clean brakes and do some clean up. I also have no tack or turn signals. Not suprised given the wiring mess. Maybe fiddle with that too. Just a I've done absolutly nothing update.

New babies tend to cause that to happen. Sleep seems to become the priority!

I have a couple throttle cables laying in the garage. The tach is electronic so the wiring will definitely play a role in its function.

          parts

          Hey Indy:
I'm a sucker for a guy with small kids & no bread.Been there, done that.

I've got a few parts laying around the garage that I hoped to eventually organize & sell. Like that'll happen!

I've got your plastic rear fender piece & probably other little things that ebay charges 2 much 4.

I'll look around this week at stuff. Post your needs & I'll send the fender piece & maybe other stuff 4 postage price.

This is a very generous bunch & I'm sure you'll get all your nees on this site.

Good luck with the project. You'll love it!

Ok. Here's the video of me going up and down the block. I only got into 3rd gear today. Not in this vid but it appears to be shifting great. Easy to find nutral. Im going to search the site later for symptoms of the known transmission issues.

If it does not skip out of gear when you apply decent torque you may wel be saved from the tranny repair. My first XS11, I had researched on this site before buying it and found info on the tranny issues. Even tried to make it happen when I test drove it, but I did not get on it hard enough to make it happen. However, after I had ownership and a few miles under our collective belt, I hit it good in second at about 4-5k and it skipped a bit, not alot, but some. Sooo....I took the hint and did the repair before it got worse.

As to the badge, well, that just sucks, tough spot to drill and tap out the broken screw without hitting the tank behind it. Gotta love the stuff a PO can do to things.

Nice thing is so far no oil leaks. Ran for a good bit today and the time it has been sitting and not a drop of oil. Took me and a friend a while to tie up the oil leaks on his 74 cb750. I know I might have some on there but if so they are slow. Got to sort lights so I can give it a real shakedown. I hope the transmission is good till winter. Then we get down to business. If not I will get it done. Just stoked to have a runner so soon. Money well spent! One day I hope tomake it pretty again. For now reliable and comfortable.

congrats on the bike riding. hope your other issues work out (electrical and what not).

I think it looks pretty good now. I've always preferred riding to cleaning and polishing.

Did a cold fire today. Started right up. Spent the day with my son so didn't work on bike. Things that have to be done include lights and tach also air box and filter, proper gas lines. Things I want to do, mikes xs pods, replace cracked inner fender and engine to drive shaft boot, replace carb intake boots, new brake pads. Paint paint paint! Recover seat. Find a reg stock seat. I will keep the high back for 2 up but would like a stock seat for just me.

Odd thought. Is it even possible to get a gold MNS rotor? Not needed but I will eventually need it.

Yes you can find them form time to time as far as the rotor, but you may be just as well to either paint it.
