  • after presync carbs...do what?

I used the "bread-tie" method of presync'ing my carbs and Im confused as to the last thing to do.
In the instructions it said to reset the knob afterwards.
So the butterflies on my carbs were shut all the way before I started, do I shut them again once Im done? Right now they are open to the wires thickness. All are equally set.

I usually leave them all open like that. Your idle will most likely be pretty high but it starts easier. Just be ready to turn the idle down.

      sync' ing

Find a friend with sync guages or make your own. Throw them thoroughly cleaned carbs on and fire that big dude up. Let it warm up good with big box fans blowing on the front of the engine, then set the idle to 1100. The idle may want to wander a bit until you complete the first sync. Then colour tune it and sync again. Have you redone your brakes yet. The urge to jump on and ride will be overpowering, contain yourself until the brakes are redone.

Yes, I forgot to mention the on the bike sync. That really is the most important part of it. Sorry, I'm tired.

I started work on the brakes. Im in no rush to jump on, however tempting. Since I have it half torn down, I figured Id take care of everything I can before riding it. I have a daily rider so the itch gets scratched... just slower.

Im going to take it to the local mech and use his tools to sync/tune. He's been a big help and knows me by name now.

Still waiting on airbox, fuse block replacement, and fairing wiring plugs. Other than that: brake cleaning/inspection and oil change. Crossed fingers for riding soon after.

You will want to close the butterflies using just the single main adjustment screw. Otherwise, your idle will probably be somewhere up around 3000rpm!

              Thank you. Will do.
Got my tank back from cleaning/coating. Its starting to look like a bike again.
