  • XJ1100 Source for brake SS hose parts

I picked this bike up last fall and don't have a history on what was replaced & when. Got to be safe so I need to replace the brakes & update the hoses to S.S. braid hoses. Looks like EBC organic pads are getting good press.

I have no idea if the same brake parts for the XS11 will also work perfectly with the XJ11. If they do, where is a reasonable supplier for the hoses & brake pads? I looked on Mikes XS site but what he has is listed in lengths & I don't know if the distances and fittings are the same. Len on XJforever has the parts but is pretty pricey and doesn't give you lengths of the pieces to compare, just the function.

It would be nice to save some money and still get the same quality parts.

Thoughts and suggestions as to what on the XS11 lines/pads will 100% match up with the XJ11 and where is the best seller to get them from?

    Thanks...

There is a seller on ebay named coastguard, mixed reviews of his SS lines they worked for some and didn't for others. Mikesxs lines are measured about from the banjo to banjo and bother ends are able to rotate 1 full turn. I think his lines would work, you might end up with some extra slack in the lines but I don't think it would be bad. I am kinda leaning towards his lines, just haven't measured closely to see what size the xs lines are. There are a few other options that have been talked about recently in a thread about SS lines too.

For the XJ, the best source I can recommend is Chacal in the XJbikes.com site (link to that page in my signature). The XJ runs a different hose config that the XS's, except the '81 MNS, so they don't swap. Pads can be had from lots of sources all over the internet.

Here's one for the fronts (both are the same)

Here's one for the rear. $25.48/set
      1980 XS850SG - Sold
      1981 XS1100LH Midnight Special (Sold) - purchased 9/29/08
Fully Vetterized and Dynojet Kit added, Heated Grips, Truck-Lite LED headlight, Accel Coils, Irridium plugs, TKAT Fork Brace, XS850LH Final Drive & Black SS Brake lines from Chacal.
Here's my web page devoted to my bike! XS/XJ User's Manuals there, and the XJ1100 Service Manual and both XS1100 Service manuals (free download!).

For brake lines I have used H-E-L USA lines on both my XS and XJ1100s. I just got a set for my Venture . Its the best improvement you can make to your brakes. Runs less than 200$ for a kit which includes new stainless banjo bolts and bleed nipples.
