    High speed wobble

Several years ago I developed a high speed wobble that would start about 90 and would increase after I let off the throttle. I went threw all the standard things stearing head rear shocks and removing the fairing improved the situation greatly but did not remove it. The problem ended up being the front wheel bearings that were replaced the year before.
To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.

      Hey Lon,

Although the ST article was a little interesting...one of the links in that article which takes one to this article
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bicycle...dynamics#Weave
is what I actually found much more enlightening..albeit a bit over my level of mathematical and physics understanding...gave me a better appreciation of the real complexicity of the design of the "bike", and all of the variables in handling, steering, shock obsorption and frame geometry with regards to the stability of a bike! It's about both BICYCLE as well as MOTORCYCLE.

I had a very simple curved windscreen on mine..it got broken during a "drop", and so I fashioned one out of a simple sheet of plexiglass( I know, I know..should have been LEXAN ) . I also have bulky non-aerodynamic saddlebags ( aluminum treadplate tool boxes cut down to size ) and experience a wobble at 90+ MPH. Fortunately my bags are detachable and the wobble was considerably less without them on there, along with the windscreen off. So..in full tour trim, I try not to take it much over 90 !
Perhaps with a better designed windscreen, and better aerodynamic saddlebags, it would possibly handle better at that or higher speed!

I just pulled the trees. My top bearing was completely dry. No grease at all. The bottom is better, but also very much in need of grease.
