Not so.... Running lights are also called "Side Markers" or "marker lights". They are usually in the same housing as the turn signals. "Daytime running lights" are exclusively in the front, and are usually a dimmed headlight that comes on automatically when the vehicle is started. When only "daytime running lights" are on, there is NO light whatsoever in the rear of the vehicle. When "running lights" are on (usually one click of a headlight switch in a cage), the headlight does not come on, but the side markers and the tail lights come on.

Sorry, it's just a term that drives me bonkers when people mis-use it. Lots of people think that they don't need to turn on their headlights because they have "daytime running lights" on their cages, and they don't realize that the rear has no light at all until they turn them on.
