Howdy again. Hope all had great holidays! When I bought my 80 SG here in the Philippines, it had an undersized battery in it. When it finally died, I got the same one, more than once, and had nothing but battery probs with them. Well, just before I put in the new one, the old one was too low to start, so I jumped it from the car, and it started fine. We put in the new battery, let it sit for about an hour, and started the bike, and all was fine. After about 5 hrs, I went out to start it again, and the battery cranked like a pro, but no start!! I cranked it for 60 seconds or so, and same thing. I didnt want to run a brand new battery down all the way, so I jumped it from the car again, cranked fine, but now start. Well, I checked, and no spark! The battery was holding 12.8 charge, and I have a brand new OEM voltage regulator, which is charging over 14, so nothing wrong there. We charged the battery with a charger, and it started firing again, and started. But, after sitting and cooling down, no spark again. Jumped with the car again, and no spark. Well, my mechanic here came over again, we charged the battery again, and for some reason, it started again. Drove it about 12 miles to his shop, no probs. While the bike is still warm, it will spark, but seems like when it cools down and sits for a bit, no spark. Mechanic is gonna check coils Monday, but hes not overly familiar with this bike either, though hes has learned lots from you guys from this forum. My first thought was the new battery, but its been tested, and its fine. Plus, bike wont start with a jump now, and I dont get spark either. Even when the old battery was too low to turn over the bike, it would still have spark, and would start with a jump. Now, after replacing it with the new one, all these problems with no spark. PLEASE HELP ME BEFORE I GO NUTZ!!!!!!!! As far as I can tell, the battery has been checked and rechecked, and it is fine. HELP!!!!! Thanx in advance.
