Fun with valve shims

    The ticking noise you are experiencing could be from a loose exhaust flange and/or bad exhaust gasket. Soak the stud with PB Blaster before trying to tighten or remove the nut to avoid snapping it.

      I tought that allso, was hopeing any way, but i have had 3 diferent headers on it, that is realy what it sounds like, i have this thing setting out side now with a cover over it, think i will just roll it in the house and work on it here so i can get more done on it or i aint never gona get it done, spring is right around the corner, lol

        did u replace the exhaust gaskets,
        when u tried changing the headers?

        hi bug,
        thats not correct, the head has a 'seat' pressed into it made
        of hardened steel, theres no contact between the valve and
        any aluminium.
        the valve and seat do wear out over time and closes the gap between
        the valves and cam,
        in the olden days when engines had lifters, pushrods, rockers
        and the wear from camshafts resulted in the gap becoming larger.
